Man fatally shot in Yuma bar

The man that died on Sunday morning from a gunshot wound has been identified as 37-year-old Joseph Benjamin Roosevelt.

Police say Roosevelt was shot inside the Maverick Bar on 4th Avenue by Carlos Moreno Leal Jr.

Leal Jr. was taken into custody on Sunday. Police say Leal Jr. knew the victim. Leal Jr. appeared in court on Sunday and is being charged with 1st degree murder, aggravated assault, possession of a deadly weapon and disorderly conduct. His bond is set at $1 million. He is set to re-appear in court on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m.

Yuma Police Officers have arrested 38-year-old Carlos Moreno Leal Jr. for 1st degree murder. According to officers on Sunday at 12:39 a.m. they responded to an aggravated assault outside the Maverick Bar on 4th avenue. Upon arrival they found a 37-year-old man with a gunshot wound. The victim whose name has not yet been released was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

The suspect was located off 5th avenue and taken into custody.
