Just hours after Senator Al Franken announced he would be resigning; Arizona State Representative Trent Franks also announced he would be stepping down next month. Franks is also being investigated by the House Ethics Committee for what they’re calling possible “conduct that constitutes sexual harassment and/or retaliation for opposing sexual harassment”.
Franks doesn’t deny that he has had conversations in the past with staff that involved fertility and surrogacy. But, says none of the conversations where an attempt to engage anyone in acts unbecoming of a state representative. Franks says he hopes his resignation will save both his party and his family unneeded scrutiny.
