(KYMA, KECY/ CNN) - Dozens of attorneys have challenged Facebook and have urged the tech giant to not create the children's version of Instagram.

44 of the nation's top legal officers signed a letter addressed to Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg on Monday.

They urged him to scrap any plans for an Instagram for children under the age of 13. The letter cites mental health and privacy concerns.

Members of Congress and child safety groups have expressed similar worries.

Back in March, Zuckerberg told Congress that the platform was still in the early stages. Facebook claims it would give parents greater control over their child's activity online.
