Tracking warm temperatures and drier afternoons

Weather Authority/ KYMA

We are in our final week of summer, and I am tracking warm temperatures and lower dew points for our afternoons ahead. We will have seasonable temperatures by the middle of the week and little warmer by the end of the week.

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA-TV)- Happy Monday! Temperatures are warm, but at least we have a break from the extreme heat.

Daytime highs are trending just a few degrees above normal for today.

Temperatures will cool down through the evening, but it will be humid with breezy conditions.

We will be breezy tonight and tomorrow, with winds coming from the south with gusts between 20-25 MPH. Slightly stronger winds are possible, along with patchy blowing dust.

With all this moisture staying put, not tracking rain and storm chances for our area. Higher rain and storm activity will favor further east. But there are slight chances that some light rain and gustier winds may move in from nearby storms, just not looking very likely.

We are still going to feel the humidity and sticky conditions during the morning and night time hours. However, our afternoons are going to feel noticeably drier and more pleasant. Afternoon dew points will be in the low 50s and upper 40s across the Desert Southwest.

Tracking lots of sunshine with near-average to slightly above-normal temperatures throughout the week for the final week of summer. It will also be breezy for the next few days, along with slightly cooler temperatures.

Temperatures will warm-up for the weekend only to cool back down to kick off the Fall season. The Fall Equinox is just 8 days away and the fall season will begin in the Desert Southwest Tuesday September 22nd at 5:05 pm.
