13 On Your Side wants to know your thoughts:

As Americans we value the rights given to us by our forefathers; but, when a star athlete used his First Amendment right to protest police brutality he was chastised by fans and shunned by his sport. Now, former star quarterback Colin Kaepernick has taken his place in history alongside athletes like Muhammad Ali and Jackie Robinson.

Recently Kaepernick was voted GQ’s Magazine’s “Citizen of the Year”. The publication which is read worldwide focuses on a variety of subjects including fashion, style and culture. Kaepernick’s silent protest cost him his job, but has fueled a movement. Many sporting franchises have opted out of playing the anthem all together in order to defuse protests.
