Man accidentally shoots his private part while robbing hot dog stand

A 19-year-old man accidentally shot himself in the groin while robbing a hot dog stand, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Police said the suspect, Terrion Pouncy, robbed the Original Maxwell Street Polish at gunpoint Tuesday morning. He demanded money from the register and also stole an employee’s wallet and cellphone, according to a criminal complaint.

As the suspect ran from the restaurant, he tried to put the pistol in his pants and it went off, shooting him in the thigh and penis, police said.

Officers later found Pouncy near a car wash, where he called 911 to say he had been shot. Around the same time, employees had also called police to report the robbery.

As of Thursday, Pouncy remained in an Oak Lawn hospital, according to the Tribune.

The 19-year-old is charged with two counts of armed robbery with a firearm. A court hearing is scheduled for Nov. 7.
