Topic of the Day: “Gun Control” taking center stage

Investigators are continuing to sift through the evidence looking to see what led to one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history. As the country continues to mourn, a familiar debate is once again taking center stage. When SWAT members entered the room of the Las Vegas shooter they found 23 weapons, many of which were modified.

Along with handguns Paddock also had several assault rifles, many of which had a modification known as a “Bump Stock” which allows for the weapon to fire more rounds per second. He also had a few machine guns which are legal in Nevada as long as the weapon was made before 1986 and registered.

The “Bump Stock” kit is legal to buy and according to recent reports from gun shop owners, since the Las Vegas shooting sales of said kits are on the rise. Now, many are asking their leaders to enforce some sort of gun control to avoid future tragedies. A task easier said than done, according to a “The Small Arms” survey Americans own 42% of all the guns in the world, that translates to 90 guns for every 100 people.
