Donation sites for victims of earthquake in Mexico City

With the traumatic earthquake that hit Mexico City on Tuesday, people in the community are gathering donations in different locations in both Yuma County, Imperial County and San Luis Rio Colorado. We will be adding more locations as we receive more information.

Here are some places for you to contact and drop off donations:

Browboss Brow & Beauty located at 1335 S Pacific Ave in Yuma will be accepting donations next Monday, Sept. 25th. Here’s a list of what you can donate:

Batteries
Lamps
Canned or packaged food (non-perishable)
Powdered milk
Blankets
Toilet paper
Healing material (gauze, bandages)
Analgesics
Sanitary towels
Soap, toiletries
Disposable plates and cutlery
Croquettes
Cleaning articles

Manantial FM 91.9 radio station will be collecting donations Thursday until 5 p.m. All goods may be dropped at their office at 1830 S. 8th Ave Suite A in Yuma. The Red Cross in Mexico has arranged to pick up goods from the border to then deliver to victims.

Mely Herrera will be accepting donations at the Walmart located at Avenue B and 24th St. Thursday starting at 7 p.m to 9:30 p.m. Her phone number is (928) 446-4044.

The Mexican Consulate of Yuma’s office located at 298 S. Main St is working closely with the Mexican government and coordinating the delivery of donations. For more information, please contact Rocio at (402)348-9857.

Hope Cafe in Calexico located 605 E. 2nd St. is accepting donations to transport to a donation center in Mexicali.

Iglesia Gethsemani located at 1010 B St. in San Luis, Ariz. will be accepting donations Thursday, Friday, and next Monday, Sept. 25th. They are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and have been transporting donations to the Red Cross in San Luis Rio Colorado, Sonora.

Universidad Tecnológica de San Luis Río Colorado located at Avenue Jalisco and 59th Street will be receiving donations Thursday and Friday.

The City of San Luis Rio Colorado is accepting donations in four different locations:

Palacio Municipal located at Benito Juarez Avenue and 4th Street

Bosque de la Cuidad located at Nuevo Leon Avenue and 9th Street

Desarrollo Social located at Lazaro Cardenas Avenue and 32nd Street

Centro Comunitario located at Revolucion Avenue and 47th Street

These locations are accepting non-perishable food, bottled water, cleaning articles, analgesics sanitary towels, healing material (gauze, bandages), powdered milk, and diapers.
