New poll show Americans split evenly on impeachment

Support and opposition follow party lines

WASHINGTON, D.C. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - The latest NBC/Wall Street Journal poll shows Americans evenly split on the issue of impeachment.

The survey of 900 adults found 48-percent support impeachment, while 48-percent oppose it.

Those number have changed only slightly from October, when 49-percent said President Donald Trump should be impeached, versus 46-percent felt he should not.

Not surprisingly, the poll found opinions clearly split along party lines.

83-percent of the Democrats surveyed said they support impeachment. Independents appear split, with just 50-percent voicing support. ]

The vast majority of Republicans surveyed oppose the process. 90-percent said the President should not be impeached.

The poll was conducted between December 14th and 17th. It has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.3 percentage points.
