Four injured after car collides with tree

Four people were injured after their car collided with a tree Tuesday evening.

The driver, a 23-year-old Tempe resident, was traveling at a high rate of speed in a 2001 Honda Accord heading eastbound on Interstate 8 around 7:55 p.m.

The three other passengers in the car were a 27-year-old man from Tecate, Mexico, a 27-year-old woman and a 15-year-old boy both from Oaxaca, Mexico.

The Honda soon ran off the road and the driver lost control when the car collided with a salt cedar tree.

None of the passengers were using their seat belt.

The collision is still under investigation. If anyone witnessed the collision, please contact Officer S. Alvarez at the El Centro California Highway Patrol Office at 760-312-1800.
