Two-vehicle collision at County 19th and Avenue B

Somerton Cocopah Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle collision at County 19th and Avenue B at around 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Upon arrival, SCFD personal found a Nissan Frontier truck and Dodge Charger with heavy damage.

The Charger had severe front end damage and the driver, a 26-year-old man, complained of pain to his right hand and left shoulder.

The Frontier had severe damage to the driver’s side and the driver, a 32-year-old man, complained of pain to his head and left shoulder and had an altered level of consciousness.

A baby boy, who was in his child car seat, was also traveling in the truck and did not suffer injuries.

A witness stated that the Nissan was traveling east on County 19th and stopped at the intersection but the driver thought it was a 4-way stop and entered the intersection impacting with the Charger that was traveling south on Avenue B.

The vehicles collided in a T-bone type accident.

All three patients were taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center for further evaluation.

Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accident.
