Kids Night Out; A night for parents and kids

Kids in El Centro are about to partake in the third annual Kids Night Out, held by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.

It takes place between 5 and 9 p.m. at the Martin Luther King Jr. Sports Pavilion and Monday’s theme was “Back to School.”

The event is open to the general public for kids between the ages of 3 and 12 and throughout the evening there will be a variety of activities to keep all children entertained.

News 11 learned that it’s not all about the kids, but also giving the parents a break too.

“They’ll be doing arts and crafts, they get a meal, they do sports, sparks, dance, board games, I mean a little bit of everything. And parents of course love it, some of them will say you know, oh we had a great date night, we went to the movies, we go to see an adult movie. And some of them will just say, you know what we just went home and took a nap. So I mean it’s just a win-win situation,” said Dolores Estrada, Recreation and Sports Coordinator for City of El Centro.

And if you are not able to make it to tonight, the city of El Centro will have three similar events coming up in the next few months.
