Man tries to lure girls into leaving with him

The Yuma Police Department said they’re investigating an incident where a man allegedly signaled at two girls to head to his direction and to go with him.

YPD said Thursday at approximately 8:20 a.m., officers responded to Pecan Grove Elementary School, located at 600 S. 21 st Avenue, for a suspicious incident involving a man attempting to get the attention of two girls while they were walking to school in that area.

Officers said the initial investigation revealed a man attempted to wave the girls over to him and asked them to go with him. The girls ignored his request and continued walking to school. When the girls arrived at Pecan Grove Elementary, they immediately reported the incident to the staff and they called the police. The girls said the man never made any threatening movements towards them.

The man is described as Hispanic, approximately 30 years of age, 5’8″ with a thin build and wearing an oversized red shirt. The suspect was also riding a black bicycle. This case is under investigation at this time.
