Two new faces take post at The Salvation Army

There are two new faces at The Salvation Army in El Centro.

The two new Lieutenants started their post in June and are hoping to get more people involved along with more resources available to the community.

We spoke to both members and asked what changes they plan on making and how long they will be serving the Imperial Valley.

“This is my first core experience and I’m very excited for it. I never heard of El Centro but once we got here we were welcomed with the people and they were very loving and caring and very supportive, and we really enjoyed that,” said John Acosta, Lieutenant with The Salvation Army in El Centro.

“One thing that we really one to encourage is support from the community, especially during our holiday season, you know, the holidays are a time when those in need really feel the weight of the fact that they are in need, so we want to encourage our community to be involved, either in volunteering or in participating in the events that we do offer the community,” said Jennifer Acosta, Lieutenant with The Salvation Army in El Centro.

Both lieutenants say they will stay for as long as they are needed. The Salvation Army accepts volunteers all year long; food and clothing donations are accepted too.
