Two people found with gunshot wounds

The El Centro Police Department is investigating an incident where two victims were found injured.

ECPD said Saturday at 9:04 p.m., officers were in the area of Fifth Street and State Street on a separate incident when they heard a loud noise near Fifth Street and Brighton Avenue.

Officers responded to the area to investigate the sound. As this was occurring officers said their dispatch center received reports of a shooting in the same area. One of the callers stated a man with a gunshot wound had entered a convenience store in the area. Officers located the man at a convenience store near Fifth Street and Brighton Avenue.

A second victim was located west of the convenience store. The second victim was a woman who was also shot and conscious at the time police arrived. Both victims were turned over to medical personnel and transported to the El Centro Regional Medical Center for treatment.
