Stabbing leaves one man dead, another behind bars

A stabbing in Imperial County has left one Holtville man dead and another man behind bars.

Imperial County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested 35-year-old Eric Portugal in connection to this incident. The Imperial County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded to 434 West Fifth Street in Holtville for a possible stabbing.

It was at that location that deputies located a male victim lying on the roadway. The victim was transported to El Centro Regional Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Eric Portugal was arrested and booked into Imperial County Jail for homicide. His current bail is set at $1,000,000.
