Woman busted for marijuana at Calipatria State Prison
A woman was arrested after Calipatria State Prison officials said she brought marijuana onto prison grounds. The incident happened last Saturday.
Officials said visitor Tyjahnae Mishelle Washington came to the prison to visit an inmate when an Investigative Services Unit Officer, who was assisting the Gate House Officer, detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle.
Washington consented to a search. Officials said nothing was found on Washington’s body, but during a search of her purse staff discovered a clear plastic bag with suspected marijuana which had a weight of 3.0 grams, which has a prison value of $750 dollars.
Washington was booked into Imperial County Jail and is facing felony charges. If convicted she faces three to five years in prison.
