Driver arrested after slow-speed chase on Arizona freeways

A driver has been arrested after an often slow-speed pursuit on freeways through Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa.

Authorities say it began as a high-speed chase about 4 p.m. when the driver of a sedan failed to yield on Interstate 10 west of Phoenix.

It became a slow-speed chase after Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers used stop sticks to cause tire damage.

The car moved drove for miles on its rims during rush hour traffic through Tempe and into Mesa.

It finally stopped under a freeway after authorities made the vehicle spin out.

The driver was handcuffed and taken into custody.

DPS officials didn’t immediately identify the driver or say if he had a criminal history.
