Brawley woman arrested on multiple child molestation charges

A family member of 35-year-old Diane Christina Deveaux wants answers.

Ciyt of Imperial resident Lynnessa Michelle McDaniel wants to know “Why she did it and what was she thinking about. Just what was going on in her head to think that was okay to do.”

Deveaux is behind bars facing multiple felony counts of child molestation charges.

“I was just shocked. It was unbelievable to me. I never suspected that kind of thing out of her. I’ve known her since my son was born,” McDaniel said.

Police said Deveaux allegedly broadcasted child abuse acts against two minors through the internet to a Florida man identified as 57-year-old Richard Alton Morgan.

“Well he was kind of a little bit strange to me when I first met him,” McDaniel said.

Morgan was arrested on February 10th on nearly 200 counts of child pornography. Authorities said Deveaux was arrested three days later based on the contents of Morgan’s computers.

An El Centro grandmother whose grandkids live in Brawley said she’s shocked.

“It makes me really sick to my stomach. How can a mom do that to her own kids?” Rosemary Cruz said.

Deveaux is charged with 15 criminal counts against a child under ten years of age.

“That’s not a mom. That’s a monster,” Cruz said.
