The Cinderella Project gives away free Prom dresses to young women

The Cinderella Project provides the tools to feel beautiful inside and out.

Kristen Davis is what you would call a real fairy godmother.Giving the opportunity for young women to feel special on their prom night.

“Everywhere I go, I just want to leave my mark. It’s not just about a dress, but just a whole female adolescent experience and just coming into woman hood.”

Davis says she got the idea from an experience she once had when she got married to her husband.

“My husband is in the military and there’s a program that offers free wedding dresses for military spouses, but what about the high school girls? That’s where it was kind of birthed from. I did a bit of research and they have projects like this all across the country but not one for Yuma, so I wanted to start one here.”

Former Miss Yuma 2010, Jade Bloomfield, feels this event also brings back an experience she once went through growing up.

“We’re here to tell you girls that you guys are gorgeous. It doesn’t matter how much money you got in your wallet, it doesn’t matter if you come from a single family home like I did. If you had things handed to you your whole life, If you’re blessed or going through something in your life. We want to bless you and let you know you’re beautiful the way you are.”

The event is this Saturday at Champion Church in Yuma from 2pm to 5pm. At the moment the project has collected over two hundred prom dresses(sizes 0-26).There will also be make up and hair tutorials and prizes for the big night. Light refreshments provided as well.
