PMH certified as one of top healthcare districts in the state

It was a grueling application process, according to Brawley Pioneers Memorial Healthcare District officials. They said it took them over a year to submit the required documentation to start the Healthcare District certification process.

Compliance Officer Aracely Smith said, “Organizations like ACHD really hold us to the fire. They say, ok, these are all the things you have to meet.”

The Association of California Healthcare Districts (ACHD) rewards best practices in ethics, reporting, public funds, and transparency, among other areas.

“So, we have to meet a criterion. It’s a huge list,” Smith said.

Recently, ACHD gave pioneers a certified designation – a major milestone for the hospital.

PMH Communications Director Frank Salazar said, “more importantly out of the seventy-nine healthcare districts in the state of California only sixteen have received the certification.”

PMH Officials say this certification should put the public at ease that they are receiving the best care possible.

“Being able to say that financially this is what we’re doing. We’re being compliant with the laws and rules that are placed as far as how we can deliver service,” Smith said.

“With this we ensured by them that we have the trust of the people to work for the people in order to provide them the best quality healthcare,” Salazar said.

The hospital continues to work towards its own set of high standards.

“As Pioneers continues to grow – you know, we have to be vigilant about what type of services we provide. We continually are trying to strive for the best healthcare possible. We recently opened a women’s health center,” Salazar said.
