YCSO finds meth in man’s car and home

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office said they found meth in a man’s car and in his home Thursday. YCSO said at approximately 6:00 p.m., officers with the San Luis Police Department (SLPD) conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation on a Chevrolet coupe in the area of Juan Sanchez Boulevard and 10th Avenue in San Luis, Arizona.

During the course of the traffic stop, deputies said a K-9 unit was requested and responded to the location. YCSO K-9 “Jax” arrived on scene and alerted to the vehicle resulting in a subsequent search. The search led to the discovery of approximately 4.26 ounces of methamphetamine.

The driver of the vehicle, Daniel Lynch, 52, of Yuma, Ariz. was arrested during the traffic stop.

Investigators with the Yuma County Narcotics Task Force (YCNTF)–which is a multi-agency task force comprised of officers and agents from the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office, the Somerton Police Department, the San Luis Police Department, the U.S. Border Patrol, and the U.S. Homeland Security Investigations–and with the assistance of the Yuma Police Department Combined Special Operations Group (CSOG), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), and additional Sheriff’s Office Deputies and SLPD Officers then served a narcotics search warrant at a residence in the 2100 block of W. 26th Street in Yuma, Arizona, that had been occupied by Lynch.

With the assistance of YCSO K-9 “Jax” and SLPD K-9 “Dennis”, the search led to the discovery of approximately 1.9 ounces of methamphetamine and paraphernalia consistent with street sales. The methamphetamine seized during the traffic stop and search warrant has a combined estimated street value of $6,990.

Lynch was booked into the Yuma County Detention Center for transportation of a dangerous drug, possession of a dangerous drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
