Topic of the Day: Trump’s Business Tactics

13 On Your Side wants to know your thoughts:

It was one of President-elect Trump’s strongest promises, to bring back jobs to the U.S. and to punish companies who take their business abroad with taxes and tariffs.

So far, President-elect Trump has been true to his word going after big businesses like the auto industry; weeks before taking office Trump took to social media bashing the Ford Company on their plans to build a new plant in Mexico.

Ford fearing higher tariffs ceased moving forward; General Motors then announced that they’ll be strengthening their U.S. operations by investing billions and creating thousands of jobs.

Financial analysts believe Trump’s tactics are behind Walmart’s latest announcement; the mega store announced that they will be increasing the number of stores in the U.S. and hiring 10,000 new employees on top of the 24,000 construction jobs they plan on needing.

If Trump follows through with higher tariffs on imported products Walmart would be severely impacted since majority of their products are made elsewhere.
