Mobile home destroyed in Foothills fire

Rural/Metro said a mobile home was destroyed following a fire Tuesday morning in the Foothills. Rural/Metro Dispatch said it received a 911 call for a fire in a trailer park in the Foothills shortly before 9 a.m.

The fire was located at 12325 S. Frontage Rd, at the Gila Mountain RV. When the first engine arrived on scene the Captain reported there were exposures to all sides and upgraded the assignment.

The mobile home was evacuated before crews arrived and they were not injured.

According to neighbors, the homeowner was able to get out safely along with her dog.

Rural Metro Fire Department says the fire was quickly put out and the fire fighters started checking for hot spots. The American Red Cross was called to help the resident of the trailer.

News 11 reached out to the homeowner who declined to comment on the matter but confirmed she had gotten out safely.

Bill Groot, Gila Mountain RV Park Activities Director, says residents are highly encouraged to purchase Rural Metro Fire Department insurance coverage for incidents such as the mobile home fire.

Without the insurance, Groot says residents are financially responsible for Rural Metro Fire Department service calls.
