Thousands protest Mexico’s gas prices in Mexicali

The protests in Mexicali continue due to rising gas prices in Mexico.

Thousands of residents gathered outside the government establishments against the change.

Mexicali citizens protested against the price of gas and new proposed water laws this morning in front of government buildings.

The protest began with a march, which according to multiple reports had more than 10,000 people in attendance.

Protestors held flags and signs, singing and shouting against the gas price increase and water law.

The leaders of the movement read through a list of officials who approved the water law, while protestors shouted “fire [them]” or “take them out [of office]” after each name. Including Mexico’s president, Enrique Peña Nieto, and Baja California’s governor, Francisco Vega de Lamadrid.

Many citizens and leaders say this protest is proof that “the mexican people have awakened”.

The protest began Thursday around 9 a.m. and ended around 1:45 p.m.
