Rural Metro’s Holiday Drop-off

What started as a football game between local first responders, ended up being a fundraiser for Crossroads Mission.

The Turkey Bowl is an annual football between local agencies. At the event, canned goods and new and unwrapped toys are collected to donate to Crossroads Mission.Charly McMurdie is with Rural Metro and is glad to be a part of this event every year.

“Well we have a great report with Crossroads Mission, they do a lot of work for our community, they do a lot of good for the community and we just want to be a part of that.This year we were able to collect about a hundred toys and fifty-sixty cans of food, we quit counting about thirty, but anyways it was a good turn out.”

Crossroads is getting ready for their “Three days of Christmas” where they will be feeding over 5,600 locals in need this holiday season. Barbara Rochester has been organizing the three day meal plan for months and is grateful for Rural Metro donation.

“With Rural Metro coming in, it’s our backup food that we’re going to have because we want to make sure we don’t run out of food. As they always done in the past we appreciate all their support.” Rochester says.
