Mexican mobile consulate helps Brawley community

On Saturday the Consulate of Mexico in Imperial County reached out to the Brawley community.

“We are bringing all the consular services that we usually offer on a daily basis in Calexico. We’re bringing all of them here to Brawley,” Deputy Consul Hector Huerta Nava said.

Through the mobile consulate they helped Mexican nationals get important legal documentation.

“A Mexican passport, consular I.D. Also, we are issuing birth certificates,” Nava said.

Important legal documents for immigration purposes.

“The first step for any regularization is to have your own I.D. documents ready,” Nava said.

The mobile served over a hundred people at the Brawley Del Rio Library branch.

“It’s very important for the people to get their documents, original Mexican documents ready and valid,” Nava said.

The mobile consulate serves all of Imperial County.

“To take the consulate to the communities, to not just to wait for them at our in Calexico, but to go to different cities in Imperial County,” Nava said.

Legal Affairs Consul Luis Escobedo said the mobile gives legal consul in four different areas.

“Family law, immigration law, criminal law, and labor law,” Escobedo said.

Brawley Council Member Helen Noriega said the mobile consul helps those who may be challenged by transportation.

“Who are in need of these kinds of services. They have no transportation to go to Calexico other than maybe the bus,” Noriega said.
