Restaurants offer free meals for Veteran’s Day

Local restaurants across Yuma will be offering free meals and various food specials to all active military and veterans, this Friday.

Various locations will be honoring Veteran’s Day by offering several menu items for all active and past veterans.

Employees from restaurants such as Applebee’s and Native Grill and Wings say they participate in this action of gratitude, as a way to display their appreciation to those who have served the country.

Daniel Sanchez, a server working for Applebee’s said he values those who have devoted their lives to the country, and is happy to show his respect.

“This Veteran’s Day we are giving free meals to our active duty and our retired veterans,” Sanchez said. “We are also offering free meals.”

Sanchez said the Applebee’s gave close to 1 million meals to veterans and active military last year.

“We really love servicing our active military and veterans,” Sanchez said. “I feel it’s a duty for us because we are honoring those who have given us freedom and protection.” Jessica Thomas, the Assistant Manager for Native Grill and Wings on 16th Street said she is a veteran herself, and is happy to see the community come together and help active military and veterans. “They’ve done so much for us. I am actually a veteran myself, so it does mean a lot that businesses go out of their way to give back to [veterans,]” Thomas said. “To some people it may just be a free meal but it’s more than that to us. We really appreciate the service.”

In honor of Veteran’s Day this Friday, local restaurants across Yuma are offering special deals for active military and veterans, as a way to thank those who have served the country.

All of the restaurants require the guest to show a valid I.D.
