Board of Supervisor District 3 elected by local voters
The General Election has finally come to an end, which also means the end of local elections has ended as well.
Local Yuma County voters elected a new Board of Supervisors for District 3, and former Yuma County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Darren Simmons was amongst the local election winners.
“I’m ready to get in there and start trying to do the best that we can and appreciate everyone’s support through all this,” Simmons said. “It’s been a long eight months, but I appreciate everyone’s confidence, support and their votes.”
Although this is Simmons’ first time in a political position, he says he is looking forward to contributing to the County, and bringing new projects to the attention of the public.
After serving the community as Lieutenant, Simmons says he is ready to continue to work with the community and serve the people of Yuma.
“A lot of the roads are in terrible shape,” Simmons said. “We need to start addressing those [issues.] Along the Foothills, people have been asking for parks out [there] and the County doesn’t have a parks department so it’ll have to be something that will be a joined effort out here in the community.”
