Topic of the Day: Church Warns Members; Democrats Are Sinners

We seek comfort and guidance in religion and when the shepherd speaks the herd usually follows. That’s the case for parishioners at a Catholic church in San Diego where a flyer was sent out to members of the Immaculate Conception Church warning readers that if they voted for a democrat they may be sealing their eternal fate.
A copy of the flyer was given to a local newspaper who ran an article. In the flyer Presidential Candidate Hillary Clinton was described as a satanic instrument; according to the article Pastor Richard Perozich admitted that he encourages his parishioners to vote republican, but added that the authors of the flyer may have gone too far.
After the article was published Bishop Robert McElroy with The Roman Catholic Diocese of San Diego condemned the flyer and released a statement saying
“Let me stress again that while we have a moral role to play in explaining how Catholic teaching relates to certain public policy issues, we must not and will not endorse specific candidates, use parish media or bulletins to favor candidates or parties through veiled language about selectively chosen issues, or engage in partisan political activity of any kind,” McElroy said.
