The 14th ranked AWC Volleyball team got a late season test and then some against the 3rd ranked Glendale Gauchos out of Division 2.
After falling short in the first set, the unbeaten Lady Matadors turned it on the rest of the way take this match in four sets.
Outside hitter Mafe Sandoval led the Lady Mats with 14 kills on the night, including the kill she dished out to give AWC the 2nd set of the entire match.
Stephany Orjuela’s role was crucial to AWC’s success, as she came through with 47 assists on her team’s total kill count of 51.
The Lady Mats (22-0 and 11-0 in ACCAC play) next hit the road to take on Mesa Community College this Friday night (10/14).
