Early voting began for registered voters in Arizona today. The Yuma County Recorder’s office is sending out 52,000 early voting ballots this week.
Voters can also start voting in-person at the Recorder’s office located at 410 Maiden Lane in Yuma.
Voters can request an early voting ballot through October 28th.
Early voting ballots can be returned by mail or dropped off at any of the following four drop off locations:
– City of San Luis County Library
– City of San Luis City Hall
– Somerton Parks and Recreation Department- Heritage Pool
– Yuma County Recorder’s office at 410 Maiden Lane in Yuma
According to the Recorder’s office there are 83,018 registered voters in the county. They say there was a big increase in registrations since the August primary elections, which had 78,000 registered voters.
Eligible voters can vote until November 4th, though the office will remain open the weekend of November 5th and November 6th for voters needing to cast their ballot due to an extraneous circumstance.
Voters will also have the option of casting an electronic or paper ballot. County Recorder Robyn Stallworth Pouquette says the machines for the digital ballots are operating on a secure network. She says they are going to be constantly tested and calibrated through election day.
