Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course returns to Yuma
Yuma residents can expect to see more military aircraft flying through the sky and military vehicles throughout the city. The Weapons and Tactics Instructor Course returns to Yuma on Friday, October 12.
The program provides WTI students with realistic training consistent with missions they may execute in real-world operations and simulates providing aid to refugees, assault support, and casualty evacuation.
More than 30 different aircraft will be involved in the day’s exercises. They will be at various landing sites including Kiwanis Park, Trinity Christian Center, Crane Middle School, Centennial Midddle School, and Yuma Regional Medical Center. The WTI program will be working with local officials from the Yuma Police Department, Yuma Fire Department, Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting, and Military Police to ensure that the community remains safe during these exercises.
Role players will wear civilian clothing with reflective belts. The WTI program will adhere to all FAA regulations and will ensure environment preservation by using drip pans for any potential chemical leaks and will ensure limited movement to preserve turf.
Spectators are encourages at all locations, but the program reminds the community to follow all instructions and directions of local authorities and exercise personnel.
