UPDATE: No charges filed in weekend shooting in Yuma

Yuma Police say no charges have been filed in connection with a weekend shooting. Officers say it now appears the person who pulled the trigger did so in self-defense.

The shooting happened just before midnight Sunday in the 4000 block of West 21st Place. That’s near Cibola High School.

Witnesses told KYMA they heard arguing followed by gunshots.

Police arrived to find a man shot in the back. Officers say one person at the scene did admit to pulling the trigger, but they did not take that person into custody.

Paramedics took the victim to Yuma Regional Medical Center. His injuries were not serious.
