Hail and thunderstorms forecast for Yuma County

The National Weather Service in Phoenix, Arizona has issued a “significant weather advisory” in effect Wednesday, September 25.

The advisory was issued at 1:13 p.m. and includes parts of Gila River Valley, and southwestern Yuma County and is in effect until 2:15 p.m.

Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm about 17 miles (ca. 27 km) south of Fortuna Foothills, but that storm has since been stationary.

Pea-sized hail and wind gust up to 50 miles (ca. 80 km) per hour will be possible with this storm.

According to NWS, the storm will remain over mainly rural areas of southwestern Yuma County.
