El Centro Border Patrol Sector makes 118th meth bust

El Centro Sector Border Patrol agents made their 118th methamphetamine bust this weekend at the Highway 86 immigration checkpoint .

On Sunday, a drug-sniffing dog alerted agents to a problem with a green Acura.

Further inspection revealed two packages of meth hidden in a baby wipe wrappers.

The bust marks a major milestone for El Centro agents.

So far this fiscal year, ECPB has seized more than 2,600 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of more than $6-million.

That’s a 77% increase over last year.
