SLHS Assistant Principal named 2018-2019 Athletic Director of the Year

San Luis High School Assistant Principal Rob Jankowski was named the 2018-2019 Arizona Interscholastic Association Conference Athletic Director of the Year.

Yuma Union High School District (YUHSD), reports Jankowski’s spent 13 years as an educator, coach, and administrator in YUHSD.

“I am very honored and humbled to receive this award,” said Jankowski.

Jankowski transitioned from the athletic office to academic at San Luis prior to 2019-2020 school year. He spent the previous years representing Yuma as the 6A region representative, advocating on behalf of area schools and helping build a unique regional setup in partnership with three schools in Tucson.

YUHSD said during Jankowski’s time in the athletic office, he grew girls sports participation in basketball, soccer, and softball. The boys’ soccer team has reached the 6A playoffs each year and individual sports like cross country, tennis, wrestling, and track.

“Rob leads with the student in mind and is greatly respected by the faculty and staff,” San Luis High School Principal Lucky Arvizo said. “His dedication and commitment for making a difference in students’ lives is one of his great attributes.”
