Yuma Sector agents find meth disguised as ice pops

A man and a woman were arrested at the Highway 78 immigration checkpoint by Blythe Station agents after transporting more than nine pounds of methamphetamine over the weekend.

According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Sunday afternoon, a canine alerted to an odor it was trained to detect emitting from a Toyota corolla.

CBP said agents referred the vehicle to the secondary inspection area and searched a cooler containing brightly colored bags disguised as frozen ice pops. Agents determined it was methamphetamine with an approximate weight of 9.21 pounds.

The 28-year-old woman and the 38-year-old man passenger were both arrested.
