Construction to begin, prompting road closures

Caltrans is reminding the public of scheduled night work that is set to begin Monday in El Centro.

Crews are set to begin paving operations at the State Route 86 (SR-86)/ 4th Street intersection with Wake Avenue in El Centro. The construction is beginning tonight at 8p.m. until 5a.m. Caltrans says this work will continue through Thursday, and continue to September 3 & September 4.

One on- or off-ramp will be closed at a time at the eastbound/westbound Interstate 8/SR-86 intersection. There will be signs posted approaching the closure locations, along with detour signage for motorists.

Caltrans says this work is part of a SR-86 paving project from the SR-86/111 separation near Heber to North Imperial Avenue in El Centro to restore pavement and replace sidewalks.

Residents can expect to hear noise and light from the these construction zones.
