Man arrested allegedly responsible for Subway robbery

Update (8/24/19): On Saturday at around 4:45 pm, police took a 59-year-old man into custody. The man was arrested at the Budgetel Hotel on South Arizona Avenue. The Yuma Police Department said the man will be charged with armed robbery and misconduct with weapons. Original Article: The YPD Crime Scene Unit is investigating after a man allegedly robbed the Subway restaurant at the Yuma Palms shopping center at gunpoint on Friday night.

The Yuma Police Department ( YPD ) said the man showed a gun at two Subway employees and robbed them for an unknown amount of money and ran north of the building.

Officers described the suspect as a 6-foot tall, African-American man in his 50’s with short dreadlocks. He was wearing a white shirt, black shorts, a fanny pack and had a medical bandage on one of his hands, according to YPD .

YPD said neither of the two employees were hurt, but one was visibly shaken and was treated by the Yuma Fire Department.
