Quintero trial continues, coworkers and family members take the stand

UPDATE (9:14 P.M.)

The two months leading up to Medina’s murder were detailed by the family members of Clarissa Medina.
Emotional testimony ended the day coming from Medina’s mother.

The mother tearing up on the stand after speaking about the defendant. Oscar Quintero allegedly dropped her daughter off at her family’s home accusing her of being unfaithful after ending their relationship in November 2017.

Also, explaining that Quintero told her that her daughter was ” after him and he didn’t want her anymore. ”

She added just days after the breakup, she and Medina went to the former couple’s shared home to pick up clothes. She said although she and Medina were focused on what they were there to get, Quintero was there along with his mother and brother and yelled at Medina calling her names.

Medina’s sister also took the stand.

She detailed a close relationship between her and her late sister and the chilling text messages Quintero sent to her, her mother, and father after the breakup.

In a text message thread of pictures of a photo booth style picture, Medina’s sister said it was of Medina and her two daughters with Medina’s face cut out and then lit on fire.

Another text summarized by Medina’s sister allegedly read, ” take care of my daughters. I’ll go for them later on when I recover from this. ”

On November 7, 2018, Medina’s sister explained her and her sister went to the Somerton Police Department regarding the situation at hand.

The next day a order of protection was filed against Quintero but to many witnesses knowledge, it was never served.

On November 9, 2018, Medina’s sister detailed a civil standby where she, Medina, and Somerton Police officers were present, and they found Quintero and Medina’s shared home with broken glass on the floor and no furniture in sight.

Medina’s sister said it was in December 2018 that Medina received a picture of the bed in the shared home full of rose pedals… she says Medina was in disbelief saying quote, ” she couldn’t believe why someone would do that. ”

A chilling detail revealed the bed was not full of rose pedals during the civil standby. This was a piece of evidence presented to the jury earlier in the trial.

Jurors also learned more about their former relationship. The two had their first child together when Medina was 17 years old. Medina’s sister said they didn’t know she was pregnant until right before she gave birth.

“She wanted to be on camera in case something happened,” said the witness.
