Help Clear the Shelter!
On Saturday, August 17, it is National Clear the Shelter Day!
If you have been in the market for a new furry friend, this weekend would be the time to do it!
Throughout the summer, the Humane Society of Yuma ( HSOY ) sees a drop in adoptions due to families being away or preparing for back to school.
Because of this, HSOY is partaking in the National Clear the Shelter Day to push adoptions.
From 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., experts at the shelter will be at the PetSmart adoption center near Yuma Palms to walk families through the adoption process.
In addition, adoption buddies will be on hand for meet and greets, along with what to expect for your new pet.
The shelter is hoping to send at least 50 animals into the loving arms of a family.
Post-kitten season, the shelter has received about 300 kittens that will all be ready to adopt on Saturday.
In fact, if you adopt one kitten, you will be able to get another kitten no charge.
This special allows kittens to have the chance to stay with their kennel mate.
All animals will be ” adopt ready. ”
This means they are spayed or neutered, they have a microchip and have their vaccinations.
PetSmart adoption center is located at 1460 S Yuma Palms Pkwy.
