Somerton Police: One man arrested another at large

UPDATE: Somerton Police have identified two suspects related to the 3 drive-by Somerton shootings that took place on Friday night. Authorities served a search warrant at a home on Columbia Avenue and Gavin Street in Somerton on August 12 at around 4: 44pm .

During the search, various law enforcement branches were able to arrest one of the suspects without incident. The suspect has been booked at the Yuma County Detention Center with preliminary charges of Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Endangerment.

Somerton Police is still continuing the investigation as one of the suspects involved is still on the loose.

The Somerton Police Department ( SPD ) is continuing to investigate the series of drive-by shootings that injured one person Friday night. The Chief of the SPD will be holding a press conference for more information regarding this incident.

One person is injured after a series of multiple drive-by shootings were reported to SPD late Friday night.

Multiple vehicles and one residence were hit within the same hour. Police are currently investigating if all three victims were targeted by the same shooter.

At around 10:00 pm, SPD was dispatched behind the Circle K convenience store on the 100 Block of East Cano Street. Police found evidence at the scene and one victim is reporting her vehicle was shot while she was driving in the area. The shots came from a suspect vehicle that was driving by, according to police.

At 10:19 pm, SPD received a second call of another victim that was being shot at from a suspected car. Police determined her vehicle was shot at near Main Street Park. The victim suffered injuries from broken glass from a windshield which was struck by gunfire.

At 10:29 pm, SPD received a third call from a woman whose house on the 100 Block of East Spring Street reported that her house had been shot. When police arrived they determined the house was shot multiple times.

No suspects or arrest have been made and all the cases are being followed up. Victims provided police different descriptions of suspect vehicles and are being investigated by Somerton Police Detectives.
