Suspect at large after vehicle crashes into home for sale

The Yuma Police Department ( YPD ) confirms one suspect was temporarily detained for questioning while the second suspect remains at large following a vehicle that crashed into a vacant home Friday morning.

At around 6:30 a.m., YPD reported a Toyota Tacoma crashed into a home up for sale on 6th Avenue and 19th Street.

There was significant damage to the front of the home.

Neighbors said this isn’t the first car to smash into someone’s front yard on that street.

Neighbor, Robert Rico, recalled a similar incident happening a few months ago, saying, ” I walked down there to see that someone had run into the garage. I said oh my goodness gracious. You see that the biggest problem we have here is that [drivers] still travel maybe 35 to 40 mph through this road here on 6th ave for whatever reason I don’t know.”

If you have any information about Friday’s hit-and-run please call Detective E. Carrillo at 928-373-4752 or 78-CRIME (928) 782-7463 to remain anonymous.
