Is the MVD mobile office worth visiting during temporary office closure?

The Yuma Regional Motor Vehicle Division office will be closed for this week due to staff training.

According to the Arizona Department of Transportation, the staff of the Motor Vehicle Division ( MVD ) Yuma location will be training for a new state-of-the-art computer system for the week of July 22 through 26.

Many services will still be available at the new MVD mobile office that will be located at 2165 East Gila Ridge Road.

The mobile office will issue licenses, vision tests, title work, and registrations among others, but road tests and written tests won’t be conducted.

ADOT spokesperson, Doug Nick, said, “It’s nice to have this service here available at the mobile RV because it helps fill those gaps when we do have to have a disruption.”

Although the system update will help move transactions at the MVD much quicker, people are waiting close to an hour to two hours to receive services from the mobile office this week.

That’s why it’s recommended that drivers come only if it’s necessary.

” The best strategy for using this is if it’s truly an emergency situation that you need to get some services done this week. We do not have as many counters available in this office as we do in the physical office, ” Nick said.

Wait times will not only be longer but locals will have to wait in the heat.

Many drivers were frustrated as they were not expecting such an experience.

MVD customer, Melissa Barr told News 11, “[My husband and I] were disappointed because we were hoping to go inside and deal with our transaction quickly.”

Another customer, Ramon Alvarez, added, “It’s an inconvenience, on the days that we’re off, we have limited time and I have to spend more time [here] than the regular time.”

Some people were unable to tolerate the heat, so they decided to leave.

While others had no choice but to sweat it out.

Alvarez said, “It’s kind of hot, but you know I have to get my license.”
