CBP arrest man caught with meth wrapped around waist
A Mexican national was arrested by Border Patrol after allegedly smuggling methamphetamine by having it wrapped around his waist in Blythe, Calif., Monday.
According to Customs and Border Protection, agents at the Highway 78 immigration checkpoint sent a 1997 Nissan Maxima for secondary inspection after they were alerted by a canine. Two adults and three children were aboard the Nissan.
Agents discovered that the driver had about five pounds of methamphetamine wrapped in cellophane around his waist. The drugs have an estimated street value of $12,190.
The 31-year-old man, a Mexican national driver, was arrested for controlled substance violations. His wife, a Mexican national who is a permanent U.S. resident, and the couple’s children were released, according to CBP.
The vehicle and drugs were seized.
