Rare footage of uncontacted Amazon tribe

Rare video of uncontacted members of Brazil’s Awa Amazon tribe has surfaced, reports Euronews.

In the past, activists were warned of growing threats to this tribe from loggers who are close to their traditional hunting ground.

According to Euronews, the video was taken in the northern state of Maranhao and shows a man holding a large knife in the rainforest. He holds up the blade to his face before making eye contact with the person filming him.

The video also shows spears among trees and bushes in the forest, indicating some other tribe members were potentially present.

Euronews reports the footage was taken by a member of the nearby Guajajara tribe, another tribal group from the Amazon which was campaigned to protect the isolated indigenous people of the region.
