Cellar Fire near Prescott burning more than 6500 acres

The Cellar Fire burning 16 miles west of Prescott grows to nearly 6,500 acres as of Wednesday evening.

Azcentral reports that the Cellar Fire was ignited by a lightning strike around 5 p.m.on Sunday, growing quickly after Tuesday’s warm weather and lower humidity.

As of Wednesday morning, the fire was 0% contained and Azcentral reports the fire could grow faster if wind conditions in the area pick up.

The fire was not posing a threat to any human structures or power lines. Fire crews and officials are ‘hoping to get a hold of this beast’ as soon as possible, Azcentral reports.
