Deputies still investigating triple homicide

In this week’s Cracking the Case, News 11 digs into a triple homicide that happened almost a year ago on 5th Street in Yuma.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office ( YCSO ) said there is evidence that was left behind that has since been sent to the lab for some more evaluation, but the case is still under investigation.

“There are evidence out there that was located at the crime scene and other locations that are being investigated,” said Alfonso Zavala , YCSO public information officer.

Ten months later, many questions are unanswered as to why Grady Baxter, Nicholas Grabbe , and Javier Sanchez were killed inside their home.

Grady Baxter’s mother remembers walking into the horrific scene.

” When I walked in there, of course, stuff was knocked over and what not, so I couldn’t see some of the blood at first. It was very obvious that my son died trying to protect his friends. He died holding that door shut, ” explained Michelle Greco.

Grady’s dog Lucky was also shot, but survived the massacre.

” A small caliber bullet. It went straight through her and just lodged behind her shoulder blade and was kind of like protected, ” explained Greco.

Bringing hope for justice.

“Things happen for a reason. When I found out that she in a sense preserved the bullet. I was pretty excited about that. ”

The triple murder left Greco grieving but now she is coping with the loss.
