Man fatally shot after exchange of gunfire with police
An exchange of gunfire with police led to a fatality, and one woman wounded in San Luis Rio Colorado Monday afternoon.
At about 1 p.m. Monday, a Ford Explorer with California license plates was pulled over for inspection at Avenida Libertad and Calle 47, east of the city.
Police say a man, Lino Rosales, got out of the vehicle and began firing at police with a 9mm handgun. Police returned fire, striking Rosales and the woman inside the vehicle. According to police the woman had a weapon as well.
Rosales was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no details to why the traffic stop happened, or why Rosales fired at authorities.
